Beckley – Flatropers Wood 1.8m

A charming woodland with a variety of habitats, a pretty babbling stream and a strip of sunny heath under the pylons.

Be aware: this wood is down an unmade lane; there is no proper parking, only a couple of laybys near the gates; in the winter, these are very muddy and not really suitable for parking at all; the lane gets increasingly pot-holy as you go down. I nearly did not include it because the access is so tricky, but it is a very pretty spot if you are prepared to drive very carefully and to come another time if there is no safe parking.
