Introduction

Over one hundred short walk maps to help you to connect with nature!

Walking is one of the easiest ways to build fitness and boost mental health. What’s more, if you take time to notice nature, the benefits are even greater!

Enjoy awe-inspiring views or the wonder of tiny wildflowers. Take a gentle woodland stroll and touch the trees. Meander through a park, linger at a lake. Stride into the countryside. Listen to the birds. Smell the grass, crunch the leaves, breathe deep the fresh air.

Nature walks are a great way to make the most of the beauty around us and feel better within ourselves.

But we noticed that a lot of walking resources are for quite long walks, more suitable for people who are already strong or experienced walkers. So we decided to create this collection – one, two and three mile walks around local parks, woods, nature reserves and rural footpaths.

They are ideal for people who do not fancy a massive hike and want to know that it will be a distance they can manage in a time that suits them. They are great for people who want to get into walking gradually and like to know in advance what to expect, where to park and whether they need to bring sandwiches! And they are fab for families with small children with little legs who prefer a shorter route.

Every walk here has been walked and checked and measured. Each has a simple map and a selection of photos to give you an idea. You can print the map or follow on your phone (see below), or you might find that the pictures just inspire you to visit and take your own route.
